Facebook Publisher

Australian designer Barton Smith took some time to redesign the facebook UI. It’s streamlined, structured and linear interface is more comprehendible, enhancing the user experience and absorbability of content.

The home page features many new benefits: the publisher toolbar enables users to post content from any page within facebook, saving time in navigating needlessly through profiles; the streams’ two-tiered filter (content type & content contributers) also creates a more coherent structure with the core elements retaining their position throughout most of the site; and the live feed displays a constant stream of all content posted in a users network, which expands upon mouse over.

Profiles also integrate with the system more seamlessly. Just as friend lists filter the stream by a select number of people, user profiles simply filter content to a single person, creating a clearer and more comprehendible layout.

The Facebook Publisher subsite is designed to support the growing use of Facebook as a primary form of contact as email once was. The separate address, publisher.facebook.com, would be permitted in businesses where Facebook is banned, allowing users to send messages without the distractions of user generated content. The interface is a mirror of the publisher toolbar ensuring a consistent interface.

Shape of things to come

Members of the Hibeesbounce will be seeing this circular design quite often in a few weeks as it will be used to help out the build up of the Edinburgh Derby. For Zero Seven blog followers only here is a little wallpaper. Only in 1440 x 900 though as it's just a preview of what is to come!

Sub Focus

Undeniably Sub Focus is one of the most talented and talked about drum and bass producers of this decade. He displays a real talent at incorporating elements from an eclectic range of influences to give his music a universal appeal and having the chance to express himself fully on this album, you can hear enjoyment oozing from his music.

The Drum & Bass tracks alone come at you like never before with the massive World Of Hurt, Deep Space, Triple X, and Let The Story Begin, which has already featured as Zane Lowe's Hottest Record In the World. On top of this you have thegenius Techno infused work-out of Vapourise, the euphoric master-piece that is Splash, the legendary Timewarp, and of course recent top 40 hit Rock It & Follow the Light.

Not only content in leading the way with an enviable collection of D&B, Sub Focus flexes his production muscles even more as he draws on his influences for tracks like the electro / funky house stomper Move Higher, the laid-back dubstep vibes of Coming Closer, the eerie old skool-esque masterpiece that is Last Jungle, and what can only be described as the monstrous Could This Be Real.

With the music industries ears pricking up to the sound of Sub Focus and the knowledge of his album on the horizon, and the fact that hes one of, if not the only DnB producer that can pretty much guarantee you national radio play, remix offers have been coming in thick and fast. To add to his already desirable list of remix productions that include Prodigys Smack My Bitch Up, 2009 sees Sub Focus remix tracks such as, We Are The People for Empire Of The Sun, Prodigys Take Me To The Hospital and Deadmau5 - Ghosts n Stuff to name but a few. All of which have been carefully chosen to add to the his growing profile.

Björn Åkesson

So, who is this guy? Well, Björn Åkesson was born in 1986, in a town called Lund (southern Sweden). He first noticed electronic music in the middle of the 90’s when he heard music from a videogame called Wipeout 2097. With artists such as Future Sound of London, The Prodigy and Orbital the interest grew. The “Akesson” project made a big impact on Above & Beyonds radioshow ‘Trance Around The World’ (which is very much worth downloading), in early 2008 the track ‘Perfect Blue’ was introduced to the world as ‘Tune Of The Week’ by Armin van Buuren on his huge radioshow ‘A State Of Trance’. Both Sunchaser and Perfect Blue was very well recieved by the trance community and appeared on several big compilations mixed by world class DJ’s and released by huge recordcompanies such as Sony BGM, EMI and Ministry Of Sound.

Sugababes - About a Girl

A song that involes Apple Pie in it. Just for that reason alone it should go to number one. It was just played on channel 4's T4 show and comparing the 'old' sugababes version of it to the new one with Jade instead of that other one I very much prefer this one. It's one of those songs that will get stuck in your head very easily with the OH OH EY OH OH OH OHEY OH! top track from the sugababies. Listen to it here

If there is a blog you must follow...

If there is a blog you must follow, this must be up there as one of the best. His name is Stuart Frew and according to his blog he "likes to write stuff". There’s no great theme on the blog apart from the convoluted wasteland that he like to call his mind. Stuart likes to talk about places he's been, stories he has heard and he enjoys a wee ramble about sport and music too. Certainly one of the blogs to follow.

X Factor - Week One

Well the singing is over and we've got the results to come tomorrow but i'll try be a music critic and give you all my thoughts of everyone's performances.

Rachel
Nothing special from this lass. She will stay in this week due to being non exsistant. 6

Ollie
I really dislike this geeza'. He comes over as a smug wee twat. But apart from that a fine performance and will stay in the show. 7

Kandy Rain
Can't remember the song or any of the performance. Try wear a little bit more clothes if you get another chance. 6

Rikki
Sang Back to Black by Amy Winehouse. I think it's time for him and his creepy eyebrows to go back to Glasgow or for future reference i'll be calling it The Weedge. 4

Stacey Solomon
Probably the funniest person ever to grace tv without actually knowing it. She has a great voice on her aswell and can see her making it to the finals. One of my favourites. 8

Miss Frank
I think the start was very poor from them but the grew into it and put in an average performance. They will be safe. Looking forward to some rapping from the main singer. 7

Jamie Afro
Superb. Completely owned the stage and the crowd as he did on his audition. Another one of my favourites. 8

Lloyd Daniels
Doesn't have the voice to win the show. He will stay in though as he has the looks factor for the wee girls. Won't win. 5

Lucie Jones
Little miss welshy! Superb wee voice on her. She might be one to go though to the final. And so much better than that Diana Vickers last year. Another one of the favourites. 8

John & Edward
Annoying little twats BUT you do have to feel sorry for them with the amount of hate coming their way. I think they might actually stay in this week. somehow. 3

Joe McElderry
Was quite good but another one whose voice isn't strong enough for a career in the music industry. Won't make the finals but should get quite far. 5

Danyl Johnson
Apart from Danni being quite evil 'outing' him on TV, he put in a good shift. One of those who will go to the final but I doubt we will see anything like his audition. Hard to top. Another one of the favourites. 8
